@ Kenyon College, Gambier, OH.

Played 2 hrs of racquetball yesterday and it definitely paid off on the scales this morning. Great sport; fast, shuffling, start/stop, easy on the joints. LOVE IT! Down 8 lbs now, an all-time high from the start of this diet. One concern, (question for sis'ta; Deb) when finished, my blood sugar was 36??? I checked it because my good buddy (Tim Chesnut) was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, so I pricked myself and tested out at 36. Huhh?? We aim to play frequently and plan to do a pre' and post' game test soon. (hypoglycemia??, I have no other symptoms.)

  1. Yes, what you are describing is hypoglycemia. With a family history of diabetes (which is hyperglycemia), I would be concerned that maybe you are having difficulty maintaining "normal" blood sugar levels -- a precursor to diabetes.

I would like you to see if Tootzi has an extra glucometer. If not, you should invest in one. Then, monitor your blood glucose levels at the following times:

When you first wake-up (before eating). Blood glucose levels should be between 70 and 130.

After every meal. Blood sugar levels should be less than 180.

After exercise. Levels should be between 70 and 130.

Keep a log for one week and report those numbers back to me!!

Also, keep some orange juice or glucose tablets (take 3 of them) on hand in case your blood sugar levels drop below 60.

Here is some more info for you:
