Before embarking on this challenge, I made sure that my sleep was right. I did a portable home sleep study and discovered that I had severe case of sleep apnea. I stopped breathing (10 sec.) an average of 42.5 times per hour and the condition ramped up to 50x per hour when in REM. As the years went by, the apnea was taking it's toll; no energy, foggy minded, excessive naps, and a factor in weight gain. Simply too tired to engage in a sweat producing excercise. Enter auto'CPAP!! This device forces airflow during sleep, and voila'!, sweet dreams, and haven't taken a mid-day nap since. This was a huge RED FLAG to get my weight under control, because #1, sleep apnea is a silent killer and precursor for other diagnosises' and #2, although I'm sleeping like a baby now, I don't want be "CPAP reliant" for the rest of my life.
I look forward to keeping up with you on your journey! I know what it's like to not fit into a ride and to need seat-belt extenders. I also know the joy and feeling of accomplishment that comes with not needing them anymore! Woohoo! It's like being born again!
